If you are building a custom PC case from wood, one of the most challenging steps is securely mounting the motherboard. While you can force metal standoffs directly into timber, the threads often strip, and it is difficult to keep them perfectly square.

Using Nylon Motherboard Standoffs for Wood
After researching alternatives for DIY case modding, I found that plastic (nylon) motherboard standoffs are the best solution. They are durable, non-conductive, and easier to adapt for wooden surfaces.

Installation Tip: Wood Screws vs. Machine Screws
The standard steel screws included with most PC standoff kits are designed for thin metal trays. For a secure fit in a wooden base, I recommend swapping the included hardware for small wood screws. This ensures the standoffs won't pull out over time.

Product Specs: These standoffs are approximately 20mm (roughly 3/4") in height, providing ample clearance for airflow.
