With so many distributions to install these days, it feels like Lubuntu has been pushed in to the background. I have not installed Lubuntu in quite a few years, but one thing I love about this distribution is how well it performs on older harder. Lubuntu launched in 2009, and is one of the original lightweight distros. Lubuntu uses the LXQt desktop environment

Lubuntu has had a bit of redesign since the last time I used it, with new themes / icons and other improvements, which still makes Lubuntu a great distribution to use.

One thing you will want to change is the font sizes. The default font sizes are quite large, and as they are located in different menus, they can be quite difficult to locate if this is your first time using Lubuntu..

Since the menu options might have changed by the time you read this, it is easier to access the various font settings in Lubuntu via the terminal

Main Menu and Panel

To change font size for all the panels and main menu enter the following command in the terminal
lxqt-config-appearance

This will open the LXQT Appearance Configuration window
Select the font icon down the left hand side.

Desktop Icon Font

To change the font sizes under the desktop icons, enter the following command in the terminal
pcmanfm-qt --desktop-pref=general

This will open the Desktop Preferences Window

To change the font sizes for all windows, enter the following command in the terminal

Finally to change the font size in the terminal open QTerminal
