If you ever need to access the thunar file manager root in Xubuntu you can do this through the terminal.

Open your terminal and enter the following command. You will be prompted to enter your root password.

sudo -i

Then enter the following command to open the thunar file manager
thunar



Always be careful when making changes to files as a root user.
