My Computer Tips was initially started to document my computing issues, but also add instructions to common tasks in various Linux distributions. Over the years I have added more useful tips and tutorials and noticed other users visiting the site.
My Computer Tips mainly covers the Linux command line, various Linux distributions and some basic programming. I started my own Linux journey in 2002 when I first installed Linux Mandrake 8, and then started using Linux as my main operating system in 2008.
Linux was very difficult at the start, help online was very sparse and any solutions where very complicated to complete. The joy of managing to install my 64MB Nvidia graphics card in Mandrake, seeing the Nvidia splash screen, only to lose my Desktop the next day and getting booted straight to the terminal, it was annoying, however I stuck with Linux.
Over the years Linux has improved massively, there is loads of support, loads of choice, more collabaration from manufacturers and developers, Linux is in a good state and now a viable alternative to Windows.
